The game
The aim is to match four counters of the same colour in a row — diagonally, vertically or horizontally — across the four levels. The first to do it wins. Like chess and checkers, it is new but feels familiar.
Set up
Remove the legs and shelves from the base.
Put the legs back in the holes provided, then the shelves.
Place a counter in a square and the game is on.
Everything packs away into the base — there's a video for that too.
The rules
Players take turns placing a counter of their own colour in any empty square on any level.
The first player to get four in a row — a straight line in any direction, a “4tec” — wins that game.
Loser of the last game goes first!
Ways to win
Four counters in a row on any one level.
Four counters in a row vertically or horizontally through the levels.
Four counters in a row corner to corner.
What's in the box
Good for growing brains
Board games are a great way to learn, laugh and have fun playing together. 4tec is a strategy game that gets kids using their thinking caps to get to four in a row — and it challenges adults just as much.
Spatial-awareness games help children grow socially and intellectually. Moving the counters teaches spatial awareness and pre-planning, and increasing spatial awareness helps children think ahead and work out their opponent's next move.
